Pasta Salad with Green Onion Dressing

‘Tis the season for another work potluck. I’m not sure why my company doesn’t have a larger Holiday Party, but as a coworker pointed out to me today. Something is better than nothing! So very very true….
For this potluck I was told to not make anything sweet (they had bought a cake) so instead I decided to make a pasta salad with green onion dressing. It looked a little something like this…

I based this recipe off of one I found HERE (the Food Network website). However I did change it up a bit. Not because it looked bad, I just didn’t want to go out and buy ingredients. Continue on to learn how to create this wonderful recipe yourself!

Lighter than Light

Coors Light

If there's no such thing as Coors, what is Coors Light lighter than?

Everything that’s on your food label is and should be regulated. Companies should be responsible for the things they tell you are in their product. If a product says “light” or even its misspelled cooler cousin “lite”, it sends you a certain message.

  3. Which one should I get!? One’s cheaper, but the cheap one tastes different… doesn’t it? How different are they?

As someone who has works in the food industry, I’ll let you in on a little secret, sometimes… both the cheap and expensive versions are created by the same company! Shocked? Well you shouldn’t be….

Fear Inducing Sites

Has anyone ever forwarded you a site that claims to tell you all of the “terrible” things the food industry is doing? How their lies are manipulating the poor unknowing & innocent moms into purchasing and feeding their families unquestionably “wrong” products? Sure the whole things sounds devious and evil, but there are a whole whack-load of regulation hoops set out by the government that food companies have to jump through. Never mind the fact that no one is putting a gun to your head and forcing you to purchase a product. So… is the food industry as horrible as you think it is? Let’s find out!

I was recently sent this link from cracked.com all about “The 6 Most Horrifying Lies The Food Industry is Feeding You” (Click HERE to read it!). As a Food Scientist I get questions about ingredients all the time. (But that’s also because people usually get confused and think I’m a nutritionist….) I’m here to set the record straight and tell you the difference between fact and media hype. Continue reading
